Opposite meets

If there’s ONE thing I’ve learned shooting all these years, it’s about fluidity between different photographic genres. We can learn different things through different genres. Talking about portraits, shaping the light, showed me how to see the light, even when shooting some street pictures. It made everything clearer, to my eyes.

Many people thinks there are no interaction, taking street pictures. As an opposite to portrait works. Well…that’s wrong. Deeply. There is a lot of human interaction on the street. I will talk about it in a few weeks on the blog. So stay tuned. But, most important, is the sync with the world around you. That’s the point. To be curios, to feel empathy, to understand what’s around you. Nothing changes if your world is your studio or the street. Really nothing. Portraits or street photography…it’s the same.

Se c’è qualcosa che ho imparato in questi anni di fotografia è la fluidità dei diversi generi fotografici. E che si impara passando attraverso generi diversi. Anche in ritrattistica, con la gestione delle luci, mi ha insegnato, paradossalmente, a lavorare meglio in strada. Mi ha insegnato a vedere la luce, in maniera più evidente.

Apparentemente la mancanza di interazione nella fotografia di strada è opposta alla relazione in un lavoro di ritrattistica. Ma in realtà è falsa la prima parte della frase. Nella strada c’è interazione, eccome se c’è, e ve lo racconterò nelle prossime puntate del blog. Ma sopratutto in entrambi i casi bisogna comunque essere in sintonia con quel che ci circonda. Abbracciare il mondo, prima di tutto a livello di empatia, essere curiosi e sapersi stupire delle sue cose. piccole o grandi. In ritrattistica è esattamente la stessa cosa.
